Description
The 1992-93 biennium brought significant changes to the Office of Bridges and Structures. A major change was the relocation of the entire office to Roseville. After thirty-five years in the Central Office the move to the Waters Edge Building was accomplished with a minimum of problems thanks to the dedicated efforts of key Bridge personnel. An evolving change is the continued emphasis on strategic planning and quality improvement; an Office Strategic Plan was published and an Office Quality Improvement Steering Committee has been formed. Additionally, the annual Bridge Construction Program delivery activities were provided at approximately seventy-five million dollars for Trunk Highways, and approximately forty million for County, City, and Township Projects. Support services were also provided for this structures program in the form of Structural Metals Inspection, Construction and Maintenance assistance. Major milestones in Fiscal Year 1992 were the installation of the POINTIS Bridge Management System, and the initiation of a Customer Survey Program. The Bridge Management effort will be of service for many years and optimizing bridge improvement in the overall utilization of the bridge infrastructure. The customer survey and quality improvement efforts will continue to enhance our over all customer service and enable us to fulfill our strategic plan.
